# Troubleshoot recording modes

> Recover extension, tab, desktop, screenshot, Instant Replay and recording-link capture failures.

**The extension cannot connect.** Confirm the administrator-supplied production build is loaded from a permanent folder, sign in to the intended account, and choose the workspace shown in **Connect securely**. Check **Settings → Extensions** for **Connected**.

**Recording does not start.** Grant browser microphone or screen permissions, retry on an ordinary HTTPS page, and refresh after reloading the extension. Restricted pages and unsupported sources can block capture. For desktop, check operating-system screen-recording permission.

**The recording is wrong.** The recorder follows the selected tab/window. Repeat with unrelated tabs and notifications closed. Hide **Show recording controls** when the dock or ink should not appear in video.

**Instant Replay is empty.** The tab must have been visible and permitted. Navigation, a hidden tab, normal recording, privacy changes and blocked origins clear history. Check **Saved replay drafts → Resume** before discarding a draft.

**A guest cannot submit.** The request may be expired, revoked or exhausted, or the 5-minute/50 MiB limit may have been reached. Preserve the local preview and ask the owner for a fresh link.
