By the end of this guide you will have a ready capture in a workspace and a link with the audience and diagnostic context your recipient needs.

Before you start

You need a Tekma account, an owner or member role in a workspace, and desktop Chrome or a compatible Chromium browser. Install the extension from the extension guide. Viewers can review and comment but cannot create captures.

Record a reproduction

  1. Sign in to tekma.dev and choose the intended workspace.
  2. Open the extension and select Connect securely if this browser is not connected. Approve the workspace, then confirm Connected under Settings → Extensions.
  3. Open the page one step before the problem. Close unrelated sensitive tabs and use test data.
  4. Open the extension and select Record tab. If you need a desktop window or screen, choose the corresponding source in the capture controls. Grant only the microphone or shared-audio permission you need.
  5. Reproduce the problem, pause briefly on the unexpected result, then stop the recording.
  6. In the review screen, set a descriptive title and add the expected and observed behavior. Inspect the video and any audio before publishing.
  7. Publish the capture. It appears in Library → All captures while chapters, streaming variants and other processing finish.
The New capture menu in the library also offers Ask someone else to record and Record from the CLI or an agent. Use those paths when the source is another person’s browser or an automated workflow.

Share the result

Open the ready capture and choose Share capture. Select Anyone with the link or Workspace members only, then choose the expiry and content mode: Copy the generated URL before closing the dialog. Treat it as access material. Play the link in a private window or another account when you need to verify what a recipient can see.

Check the result

Play from the beginning and confirm the trigger, failure and final state are visible. Open DevTools when diagnostic context matters. Chapters can appear before a transcript; a silent recording can have visual chapters but no transcript. If processing fails, use the retry action shown on the capture before recording again.
