Instant Replay keeps a bounded history of the visible page in the connected extension. It is a reconstructed DOM replay, without screen video or audio, and is useful when a problem is intermittent.

Enable it

  1. Open the connected extension popup.
  2. Open Instant Replay and choose Enable Instant Replay.
  3. Review the origin and privacy notice. Use Block [origin] when a site must never be replayed.
  4. On a heavy page, use Allow replay on this heavy page only when the extra capture is acceptable; hard privacy and origin limits still apply.
The buffer keeps up to two minutes while the tab is visible. It pauses or clears when the tab is hidden, the page navigates, a normal recording starts, permission expires, or workspace/privacy settings change. Input values are masked. Canvas, video, object and embed contents may be absent, and blocking remote resources can make a replay incomplete.

Review and save

Open Review Instant Replay when the issue occurs. Choose a complete start snapshot and an end point, then create a local draft. Closing the preview keeps the draft. You can reopen it from Saved replay drafts → Resume for up to 15 minutes. Choose Discard saved replay when it is no longer needed. No data uploads in the background. Publishing is the explicit create action. Keep local drafts private until you have checked the page content.

Play and share

Instant Replay has independent play, pause, seek and speed controls. A With DevTools share is required for recipients to play the DOM replay; a Without DevTools share withholds the replay and diagnostics. Instant Replay has no HLS video, audio, transcript or automatic video chapters. Cropping is a playback edit, not redaction. Permanently delete the capture when the original DOM content must be removed. See privacy and sharing links.
